Hanifa’s Murder: Ganduje will not renege on signing death warrant for her killers – Kano AG, Lawan

The Kano State Government has assured its commitment to accomplishing all legal proceedings on the conviction of Abdulmalik Tanko and Hashimu Isiyaku, killers of Hanifa Abubakar and the signing of their death warrant.

Justice Usman Na’aba of Kano State High Court recently found the prime suspect and accomplice guilty of kidnapping and killing six years old Hanifa and sentenced them both to death by hanging.

The court committed Abddulmalik and Hashimu to five years in jail on three charges in the counts. However, the third defendant, Fatima Musa was sentenced to two years in prison for criminal conspiracy and attempted kidnapping.

In the wake of the prosecution, investigation, and trial, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had vowed to assent to a possible death warrant as soon as the suspects are convicted.

However, the criminal trial which bordered on kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, concealment, abatement and criminal conspiracy, which was concluded within the space of six months is now generating fresh concerns.

The growing concern is whether or not Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje would fulfil the pledge made to sign the death warrant of the convicts if they are condemned to death.
