Sola Faleye, Personal Assistant to the late CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, has shared heart-rendering account of his last encounter with his boss before the ill-fated crash that claimed Wigwe’s life, his wife and son.
Faleye at the Night of Tributes in Lagos on Wednesday explained how he was employed by his boss and the relationship they both shared.
According to him, he was approached by Wigwe late 2018 to work for him as his PA.
Speaking on the journey, he said that when the late Abimbola Ogunbanjo approached him that he would like to go on the journey with his boss, he explained to him that the boss’ journey was unpredictable.
He said that everything he said to discourage him from embarking on the journey with his boss was rebuffed. “I didn’t know why I kept persuading him not to embark on the journey, but I just kept doing so but my efforts didn’t work.”
He said,  “Five of us embarked on that journey and flew from London to Palm Springs, USA. Our luggage could not go with the chopper, so I decided to go with the luggage, and Dr. Wigwe agreed it was a brilliant idea.”
“I remember Mr Bimbo chatted me that he would like to be on that journey with my boss, I told him my boss’ journey  was not always straightforward, he said he was going to wait. I made him know he  would be in abuja, he said he would wait, I said he would spend some days in London, he said he would wait, I wouldn’t know why I was trying to discourage him.
“We left London for Palm Springs. It was a sweet journey, we flew for 11 hours from London to Palm Springs. I went to him mid air and asked how comfortable he was  flying a chopper at night , he said America had good navigation  system at night. We landed safely and we were all happy.
“As they were loading the luggages, it occurred to me that I would  still have to wait for the luggage, so I said it was better to go with with the luggage and my boss  said brilliant idea.”
