Ibori’s daughter, Igbakpa deadlocked in PDP Reps seat contest

No official winner was declared in the Peoples Democratic Party primary election held in Ethiope Federal Constituency on Sunday as the two contestants, Ben Rollands Igbakpa and Chief James Ibori’s daughter, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, tied at the end of the contest held in Oghara, Delta State.

The results of the party primary ended in a stalemate as the two contestants scored 34 votes each.

Igbakpa while reacting to the result via his Facebook page post thanked God for the polls.
However, Ibori’s daughter was yet to make any formal statement on the primary’s verdict as of the time of filing this report.

It was gathered that the party will take final decision later on the modalities of deciding the winner for the constituency, whether or not it will be through a re-run.

Meanwhile, the contest for the party primaries in Isoko constituency was marred with crisis as unknown gunmen stormed the election venue, shootIng sporadically shortly after the election results were announced.

The state legal adviser of the party, Bernard Odion had won with 23 votes thus beating the incumbent, Jude Ogbimi, who polled one vote.

The invading gunmen stormed the venue in three Toyota Sienna shortly after the primary election results had been declared and delegates and aspirants left the venue.

They subsequently began to shoot indiscriminately into the air thus forcing party members, supporters, and security personnel to scamper for dear lives.
