Ikere residents are reeling in the aftermath of a brutal bank robbery that left three Amotekun security personnel dead and social and economic activities crippled.
The Ikere Development Forum (IDF), a prominent community group, has condemned the attack and urged both Federal and State governments to prioritize security in the town.

On Wednesday, December 13th, armed robbers stormed branches of Wema Bank and Access Bank, sending shockwaves through the usually peaceful community. The IDF criticized the slow response of security agencies, particularly the police, highlighting the lack of a functional police station in Ikere since arsonists destroyed both divisional stations during the 2020 EndSARS protests.
“This is the second time our town has been shaken by such violence,” lamented Mr. Femi Ekundayo, IDF National President. “The 2011 bank robbery left Ikere without banking services for months, and this new attack will cause further economic hardship.”
The IDF called on President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, and the Inspector General of Police to take immediate action,
