Is School Truly A Scam?

Presently in our society people no longer have regard for being educated or have attended school. However, going through the process of schooling is now classified as a waste of time and resources because been a graduate doesn’t guaranty securing a job or employment in Nigeria, as the major proven route to getting a job or employment is through connection to people of caliber and high social status in the society. This perception might be wrong as we still have people till this time and age who have gotten and still gets employment or job through their certificates and not with connections to people as previously discussed being most people’s tenacity in recent times. This discussion, however, will highlight some benefits of why attending school or being educated is potent to our society and correct us of the wrong impression of “School is a Scam”.

1. ABILITY TO READ, WRITE AND EXPRESS FEELINGS: Attending school or being educated has been and will continue to be the only way to being able to read, write and express one’s feelings through conversations. Schooling has proven to be the only way through which anyone can be taught the act to read and write through which information can be passed across to an individual or group of people. However, with the ability of reading and writing, one will be able to express his or her opinion or decisions through talking, which alone has over the years redeemed many and bridge communication barriers. This as well makes people who are not privileged to talking or hearing go for sign language just because they want to be able to express their feelings.

2. SOCIALISATION AIDS: School, being the second agent of socialisation after a family has over time aided the process of socialisation because it is in the school we learn how to read and write that which contributed to expressing one’s self either through talking or messages. People who are not educated or people who didn’t go to school find it hard to socialise properly either through oral or written forms of communication. That’s why we have people who didn’t have the privilege to be educated at a young age, go to learn how to read and write as adults that, which brought about adult schools just to aid their socialisation process.

3. KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION: The ability to read and write has helped a lot of people broaden their scope of knowledge either by reading or learning that which will, in turn, affect such’s state of reasoning and behavior. Knowledge is very important in all cycles of life ranging from religious to academics, political, administrative, etc, because it helps to identify what is wrong from what is right. Meanwhile, knowledge also contributes to decision making, judgment administering, etc. My knowledge has however helped me put this which you’re reading together with help from being educated or attending school.

These points and other benefits of being educated that you known are enough evidence to prove to us that attending school or being educated is never a scam and will never be a scam in years to come. It is, however, crucial not just to attend schools but, be imparted and get educated as some people went to school just for the fun of it.
