The Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chiedu Ebie, has expressed his gratitude following a Federal High Court ruling that upheld his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Ebie described the court’s decision as “well-considered, intelligently delivered, and courageously sound.”
Presiding Judge Justice Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed a lawsuit from oil-producing communities in Bayelsa and Delta states, which challenged Ebie’s appointment on grounds that he did not represent the oil-producing area with the highest production.
The ruling reaffirmed the legality of his position, clearing the way for continued leadership.
In a statement following the verdict, Ebie emphasized the significance of the ruling, stating, “The judiciary has once again proven that justice is never lacking in the Temple of Justice.”
He called the decision a “watershed moment” that reinforces President Tinubu’s commitment to lawful public appointments.
Ebie dedicated the ruling to God and the people of the Niger Delta, urging regional stakeholders to collaborate with the NDDC board to enhance infrastructure and socio-economic development.
He stressed the urgent need for a holistic approach to the region’s development and called for unity among Niger Deltans.
