The Defence Headquarters in Abuja is hosting a crucial meeting of the Chiefs of Defence Staff from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Chaired by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, the gathering brings together top military brass from across the region to discuss pressing security concerns.
In attendance are key Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, as well as legislative leaders and representatives from the National Security Adviser’s office. Notably, the meeting has drawn Chiefs of Defence Staff from ECOWAS countries, with the exception of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
This high-level meeting comes at a critical time for regional security, with various challenges threatening stability in West Africa. The discussions are expected to focus on collaborative strategies to address these concerns and strengthen defence cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
