JUST IN: Labour Party Forms Alliance With PDP In South West

The Labour Party in Ogun State has formed an alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party, just twenty-four hours before the governorship and state house of assembly elections.

The alliance was said to be aimed at the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Dapo Abiodun, who is seeking a second term.

A faction of the Labour Party had supported Abiodun’s bid for a second term.

However, the caretaker committee established by the national leadership has criticized the endorsement.

The Labour Party caretaker committee, on the other hand, announced the PDP’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, as the party’s choice in a statement issued on Friday by the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the party in the state, Tokunbo Peters.

The party stated that it chose the PDP from among the parties making overtures to it.

Following its strong showing in the state’s last election, many parties, according to the party, were making overtures to it.
