Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the African Action Congress (AAC) gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming election in Ondo State, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.
Ajayi, who is affiliated with the Take It Back Movement, was taken into custody on Saturday in Akure during the one-million-man protest addressing issues of hunger and economic hardship in the country.
According to the Take It Back Movement, Ajayi was arrested alongside fellow activist Patrick Owolabi.
The organization has called for their prompt release, condemning the “unlawful arrest” and “continued clampdown on peaceful #EndBadGovernceInNigeria protesters”.
The Ondo State Police Command has yet to issue a public statement regarding the arrest.
