Afrobeat musician and revolutionary, Seun Kuti, who was charged with assaulting a police officer during an altercation on Saturday, May 13, on the Third Mainland Bridge, in Lagos, has been released on bail.
This was brought to light after a 56 seconds video surfaced online on Tuesday evening, showing the musician in a red shirt and blue pair of jeans, being greeted and hugged by friends and well wishers outside the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos.
The development was confirmed by his attorney, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN, in a telephone interview with the PUNCH’s correspondent on Tuesday night.
“Yes, Ṣeun Kuti has just was released minutes ago.
“His bail conditions have been perfected since last Thursday, but the police asked for an extension of his remand until today (Tuesday),” Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, SAN stated.
