The Southern Kaduna Baptist Conference has advised Governor Nasir El-Rufai to reinstate the sacked 4776 district heads in the state.

In June 2017, the state government removed 4,776 local heads to reduce overhead costs.

On Tuesday, during a visit to the Chairman of Sanga Local Government Area, President of the Conference, Donald Arak, said the chiefs played a key role in stabilizing communities.

“We know the role traditional rulers play in maintaining peace. We are appealing to the Kaduna State Government to reconsider the issue of district heads that were removed from their positions.

The cleric noted that their removal had made tackling security challenges more difficult.

“Their removal has not helped in tackling the security challenges we are facing. We need them back so that the peace we are crying for can be achieved,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Arak added that the Baptist denomination would continue to pray for the nation.

Sanga Council Chairman, Charles Danladi, assured of the government’s commitment towards lasting peace in Southern Kaduna.

Danladi, represented by the Vice-Chairman, Abubakar Umar, hinted that the state government would look into the conference’s demand.
