Kaduna Police Ban Unlawful Gatherings

The Kaduna State Police Command has banned all forms of unlawful gatherings, including the planned Ashura procession by the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ite.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, announced the ban in a statement, citing intelligence reports that the procession could lead to violence and destruction of properties.

“The command has banned every manner of illegal protest in the state.

This is coming on the heels of intelligence received indicating that the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ite, is planning a procession to mark the 2024 Islamic Ashura Day ceremony,” Hassan said.

He added that the police command would not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law to bear on any person or group that dared to violate the ban.
