Kidnapped Methodist Prelate regains freedom

The Prelate of Methodist Church  His Eminence Samuel Uche, abducted on Sunday afternoon along with two other clerics on the Lokpa axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway way has regained his freedom.

He was released along with other victims Monday evening.

Although details of their release were sketchy as of the time of filing this report, Public Relations Officer PPRO in charge of Abia State, Geoffrey Ogbonna  confirmed the release.

Similarly, sources at the church confirmed the release of the clerics. 

“To God be the Glory. His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche; his Chaplain, Very Rev. Abidemi Jeremiah Shittu and the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, have regained their freedom few minutes ago. Thank you all for your prayers,” the source said in a short message.

Also, the Executive Chairman of Umunneochi  Local Government Area, Chief Ifeanyi Madu, has confirmed their release.

This is contained in a statement signed by the council secretary, Mr Peter Uba and made available to NAN.
 “The Chairman joyfully wish to announce the release of His Eminence, Dr. SCK Uche JP, the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria and his entourage from their abductors.
“This was confirmed by the Lay President Methodist Church Nigeria, Sir Ifeanyi Okechukwu.
“The prelate is currently in a church giving praises to God.  Details coming soon,” the statement said.
