A video uploaded to YouTube on today shows the devastating effects of flooding in the Sher Community in Lagos.
The video shows homes completely submerged in water, with residents using canoes to navigate the flooded streets.
The Sher Community is one of many areas in Lagos that is prone to flooding. The city’s rapid growth, poor drainage systems, and rising sea levels have all contributed to the increasing frequency and severity of flooding events.
The video also shows an interview with the Chairman of the Sher Estate Community Development Association, Engr. Dao Anu. Anu expresses his frustration with the government’s inaction on the issue, saying that the community has been plagued by flooding for years but the situation has only gotten worse.
He also reveals that there have been a number of casualties as a result of the floods.
