The Lagos State Government has appealed to #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters to shun violence and respect the sanctity of physical structures in the state.
Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, made the call in Alausa on Friday.
Olumide emphasized the importance of preserving physical structures, citing their value, cost, and functions in society. He urged protesters to refrain from destroying buildings that serve residential, commercial, and institutional purposes.
The commissioner noted that physical structures contribute to the aesthetic value and cultural heritage of Lagos.
He stressed the need for everyone to work together to build a liveable, organized, orderly, and sustainable physical environment.
Olumide’s appeal comes as protesters continue to demand an end to bad governance in Nigeria.
The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens and urged protesters to engage in peaceful demonstrations.
