Minister orders arrest of FHA officials, developer over Abuja’s collapsed building

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Muhammad Bello, has ordered security agencies to arrest some officials of Federal Housing Authority (FHA) and a developer following the collapse of a two-storey building in Abuja on Thursday.

Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) Umar Shuaibu, disclosed this to journalists during a briefing on Saturday.

He said the minister ordered security operatives to arrest the FHA officer saddled with monitoring the building project, the FHA officer in charge of granting development permit, the developer and the engineer supervising the project.

According to Shuaibu, who said the officials would be arrested for manslaughter, the collapsed building at 6th avenue in Gwarimpa Estate, killed three persons while 21 others that were trapped have been rescued.
