The family of late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission over the handling of the investigation into his death by the Lagos State Police Command.

In a statement signed by the head of the family’s legal team, Taiwo Odumosu, the family alleged that the officers in charge mishandled the crime scene, failed to secure potential evidence, and overlooked crucial testimonies.

The family demanded the replacement and probe of all police officers involved in the case, citing lapses in the investigation, including the failure to cordon off the crime scene, and the removal of the DVR of the CCTV installed in the deceased’s apartment.

The statement also alleged that the police overlooked evidence and testimonies revealed at the Coroner Court’s proceedings and failed to conduct forensic examinations.

The family called for the replacement of the current team handling the investigation in Lagos State by experienced investigators from the force headquarters.

Reacting, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the police await the IG’s position on the petition.
