Galambi who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency, Jigawa State on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party, commended the 9th Assembly for the initiative, saying, “The first phase of the library building is practically at the completion stage and will be commissioned on December 16, 2023, while the second phase which has to do with equipping, furnishing and take-off is in view.”

He called on Federal Lawmakers to join hands in making the library a world-class resource centre that would serve members of the National Assembly better, by ensuring it is equipped with the necessary state-of-the-art facilities.

He also called for the provision of information capable of facilitating proper legislative engagement, culminating in the enactment of new laws and amendment of existing ones for the good governance of the country.

This is just as he reminded his colleagues that the committee was a new one and therefore, requires fresh ideas to hit the ground running.

“I must acknowledge the fact that our nomination to serve as members of this committee was based on our track records as well as experiences as spelt out in our respective curriculum vitae. I therefore urge all of us to do our best by bringing in our wealth of experience to ensure that this committee succeeds.

“Keeping a record of all House delegations of parliamentary conferences, training, seminars and capacity buildings attended by members and staff of the House.

“Ensuring that the National Assembly Library is well maintained and stocked with relevant and up-to-date materials of the House to function maximally, and calling for data and materials from within the legislative and any other arm of the government that will facilitate the legislative process and execution of the assignment.”

While noting that achieving the mandate of the committee would not come easy, he called on members to work extra hard to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, who constituted the committees a handful of weeks ago.
