Nigerian Ambassador to Spain Ademola Seriki dies days after celebrating his 63rd birthday

The Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Ademola Rasaq Seriki is dead.

According to a family statement, the late Ambassador died on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at about 2 am in Madrid, from cancer.

The statement reads; “Innā lillāhi-wa-innā-ilayhi-rājiun

“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Ademola Rasaq Atanda Seriki (CON) on December 15th, 2022.

“He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain,” the statement, signed by his Children, read.

Born on 30th November 1959, Ademola was a politician, teacher, businessman, and public administrator.

Seriki served as the Minister of State for Defence between 2008 and 2009. His responsibilities included overseeing the Military Pensions Board, in order to attain the objectives envisaged by the federal government. He, in tandem with the Minister of Defence, worked to formulate and implement policies within the purview of his mandated schedule.

In 2011, Seriki defected from the PDP to the Action Congress of Nigeria which after merger became All Progressives Congress (APC). In early 2021, Seriki was appointed by The President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain.
