NSE splashes N16m on 16 best performing UTME candidates

The Nigerian Society of Engineers has rewarded 16 Nigerian students for their outstanding performance in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation (UTME) exercise.

Miss Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwa Agnes and other 15 students, who scored high in the last UTME were awarded a scholarship worth N16 million for their academic excellence by the NSE.

The awardees have chosen to study mechanical, electrical, computer, industrial production as well as civil engineering in different Nigerian universities and each of them is to receive the sum of N200k per year for the next five years.

The overall best student, Maduafokwa Egoagwuagwa Agnes, who scored 365, wrote her UTME on March 14th 2020 at St Michael Otedola Education Centre in Epe, Lagos State. The young lady scored 72 in Use of English, 99 in Mathematics, 99 in Physics and 95 in Chemistry.

Agnes is the president of the mathematics club and 1st assistant head girl of Louisvilles Girls High School, Ijebu-Itele in Ogun State. She disclosed her intention to study engineering where she can apply mathematical concepts in solving societal challenges.

In addition to the cash prize, each student also received a brand new laptop with the best student Agnes getting an extra laptop and tablet which was donated by the President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, Funmilola Ojelade.
