The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied issuing a directive to corps members to upgrade their bank accounts in anticipation of receiving the newly approved ₦70,000 minimum wage.

In a statement released by the Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, Eddy Megwa, the organization described the report as misleading and unfounded.

The NYSC emphasized that it has not received any official directive to begin paying corps members a ₦70,000 minimum wage or to upgrade their accounts in preparation for such payments.

Megwa stated, “Management has been drawn to a misleading information circulating in the media regarding payment of ₦70,000 minimum wage to Corps Members and the directive to upgrade their accounts. This is absolute falsehood which is far from the truth.”

He added, “Corps Members, parents, and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters. It is therefore impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on this issue.”
