The rate of migration among our graduates is alarming, Nigeria has immense potential, and it is vital for us to build on that potential rather than seeking opportunities through illegal means,” said Mr. George Mfongang, Rivers State NYSC Coordinator.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has warned Nigerian graduates against illegal migration, citing the risks of detention, financial setbacks, and physical harm. The warning comes amid a growing trend of young Nigerians seeking opportunities abroad.
“We aim to inform corps members about the reality of illegal migration and the severe consequences it can entail,” said Mrs. Nwamaka Ikediashi, NAPTIP Commander. “The activities of these deceitful agents pose significant dangers, and it is crucial that our youths are aware of these risks before making any decisions.”
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has proposed a partnership with NYSC to educate corps members about the dangers of illegal migration.
