A security aide to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, collapsed on Thursday during the governor’s swearing-in ceremony for a second term.
The incident took place at a few minutes before 1pm, while the governor was reading his inaugural speech.
Obaseki took the oath for a second term alongside Philip Shaibu, his deputy.
The event held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City, the Edo capital.
The governor was rounding off his address at about 12:56pm, when the aide-de-camp, who was standing behind him collapsed.
The aide was fully dressed in uniform, and he also wore a face mask and white hand gloves.
He was quickly attended to by other government officials while Obaseki, who seemed not to what was amiss, concluded his speech.
