Ogun Gets New INEC REC

A new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) has been appointed for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ogun State.

He is Olaniyi Ijalaye Esq, a legal practitioner who fills the vacancy for Ondo State.

Mr Olaniyi Ijalaye has been deployed to INEC, Ogun State to take over from the former REC. Mr. Olusegun Agbaje MFR, mni who had been redeployed to INEC, Lagos State as the official handing over ceremony was performed earlier today.

Tadese Adenike, head of department, voter education and publicity made this known in a statement released on Monday in Ogun that the new commissioner had reported for duty.

Mrs. Adenike said Olaniyi Ijalaye is a graduate of University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) where he had his First degree and Master’s degree in Law in 1982 and 1995 respectively and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1983.He joined the services of the premier banking institution, the First Bank of Nigeria PLC on 2nd July 1984 as a Legal Officer and rose through the ranks. He retired from First bank as Deputy Legal Adviser on 30th June 2011 after 28 years of meritorious service.
