Ogun gets new transportation union

The Ogun State Government has approved the Ogun State Operations Management Services as a new transportation union.

The new union is led by the state Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Mustapha Ismail, also known as Yaro.

There had been about three transport unions before the introduction of the new one in the state.

The approval was contained in a letter titled, “Ogun State Bus Stations, Parks and Garages Operations: Letter of Approval,” addressed to Yaro and signed by the Director, Public Transport and Commuter Services at the Ministry of Transportation, Shokunbi O. B. A. for the  Commissioner for Transportation, Gbenga Dairo.

It read in part, “I refer to the expressed interest of Ogun Station Operations Management Services to provide bus stations, parks and garages operations and management services across Ogun State. I am delighted to inform you that, subject to a satisfactorily executed agreement, Alhaji Mustapha Ismaila Yaro, the Chairman of OSMOS, has the approval of the Ministry of Transportation to join subsisting approved unions, associations and organisations in the conduct of park operations and activities across Ogun State.

“Please note that qualification as an Ogun State transport sector service provider stakeholder comes with a number of responsibilities and expectations.”

The state government noted that the company was expected to alternate bus stations and park operations with subsisting operators starting with an immediate four-week trial period.
