The Ogun State government has shut down a metal haulage company, RST International Limited, located at Ajileja Community in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state for allegedly operating illegally in a residential area.
The government said the company operated under a false pretence of a warehouse while it constituted an environmental nuisance to the community.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Farooq Akintunde, noted that apart from operating illegally in the residential area under the false pretence of a warehouse, the company’s management also failed to heed several warnings to relocate its operation to a more appropriate place.
Akintunde also accused the company of constituting an environmental nuisance to the residents of the community.
He said, “In the first place, the company which specialises in buying and selling of heavy metal stanchion and beams dubiously came into the residential area on the false pretence of just locating a warehouse in the area.’’
