One killed, three injured in Bauchi fatal crash

One person was killed in a fatal crash involving 13 people at Bayara Village along Bauchi-Dass Road in Bauchi State on Sunday morning, The PUNCH has learnt.

The Bauchi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident on Sunday saying that three other people sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said the crash, which occurred at 11.00am involving a vehicle and a tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, was caused by speed violation.

He said the vehicle, a Volkswagen Sharon commercial bus with registration number TRR 851 UJ, was driven by one Shamsudeen Lawal while the tricycle was driven by one Suleiman Muhammad.

According to him: “We got a call that there was a crash at Bayara along Bauchi-Dass Road today (Sunday) at about 11.00am. Our men rushed to the scene within 28 minutes to rescue those affected.

“There were 13 people, nine male adults and four female adults, involved in the crash between a Volkswagen Sharon commercial bus with number plate TRR 851 UJ and a tricycle.

“Our men rushed the victims to the State Specialist Hospital for treatment, where a medical doctor confirmed one person, a female adult, dead. Three adults sustained various degrees of injuries.
