Osimhen wins second Serie A Player of the Month

Few days after being named the best foreign athlete in Italy, Victor Osimhen has added the Serie A Player of the Month to his laurels in the Italian top fight league.

The official announcement was made yesterday by the management of the Serie A on social media as the Nigerian ace who led support for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria has been adjudged the best player in the league for February 2023 having netted five goals in the outgoing month.

At present Osimhen is the highest goal scorer in the Serie A with 19 goals from 21 Serie A matches and on February 17, he scored his 100th  career goal to help Napoli win 2-0 at Sassuolo.

He has become the first-ever player in the history of Napoli in the three-point era to score in seven league games in a row and he is aiming to become the first African to win the highest goal scorer in the Serie A.

Since joining Napoli, Osimhen has claimed several awards including the Serie A Best Young Player in his first season as well as Serie A player of the Month in March 2022

His solo goal against Roma early this year was picked as the Serie A goal of the month of January 2023.

At the Global Soccer Awards in Dubai earlier this year, the Napoli goal poacher was named the emerging player of the year while on Monday he was also adjudged the best foreign athlete of the year in Italy.

Meanwhile, the partnership between Osimhen and Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have combined 29 Serie A goals, five more than the entire Chelsea squad has managed in the Premier League.

Napoli, who are waiting for their first Scudetto since 1989-90, are the runaway leaders with a 15-point lead over second-placed Inter despite last week’s 1-0 loss against Lazio at the Stadio Maradona.
