Osun 2022: Adeyanju counters Buhari, says APC tried to rig poll

President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, governors have been accused of attempting to rig the just-concluded governorship election in Osun State.

Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political activist, said Buhari did not allow a free and fair election in the Osun State governorship election.

He insisted that the president and APC governors tried to rig the election till the last minute.

In a tweet, he warned Nigerians to be on alert because APC is not planning a free and fair election in 2023.

He wrote: “Buhari did not allow free & fair election in Osun. Both he & APC Governors tried to rig the election till the last minute.

“We must commend the people of the Osun for not sleeping and protecting their votes. The APC is not planning for a free & fair in February. Opposition, wake up.”

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ademola Adeleke had defeated Governor Gboyega Oyetola after polling the highest number of votes.

However, Buhari had said the outcome of the election showed that the electorates spoke through the ballot.

Buhari said the election was an indication that democracy has come to stay.

He promised to leave a legacy of a free and fair election when he leaves office.
