Chancellor  of Covenant University and presiding bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners Church, Dr.  David Oyedepo,  has said the Federal Government should respect youths involved in the ongoing #EndSARS protests in the country, even as he endorsed the protests.

Oyedepo, during a sermon on Sunday morning stated that the Nigerian Youths have the right to express their displeasure on the current state of affairs in the country.

He added that he had been silent on the issue so far because he warned Nigerians in 2015.

“Every Man has a right, legitimately so, to express their displeasure and pains” he said.

“I kept quiet for a while because in 2015 I warned this nation, vehemently, consistently, because I saw the dangers ahead and you can tell.

The most gruesome season in the history of the nation is the last five years where lives have no value, wanton killings here and there.

“Human lives have no meaning. They kill and smile. No concern about unemployment, schooling. Respect the protesters. They have houses; they have cars but are after the welfare of others. Respect them.

“Animal farm is more organised than Nigeria. There can’t be peace without justice. You know me; my language hasn’t changed once, even when the whole nation went silent. I never kept quiet. These youths are precious, respect them.

“The youths have to smile. It is their country. They have a right to smile. No one owns Nigeria more than the other. If you are elected, you listen to those who elected you.

“I have never seen a protest this sustained; they need to have hope in their country.

“Now they have faced the youths and because they don’t know who is next, they have the right to say ‘enough is enough’. Any system that has no value for human lives is irrelevant. If they were killed when they were youths, would they be where they are today?”
