Peter Obi Reacts As Buhari Swears In Arase As PSC Chairman

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has congratulated the former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, on his inauguration as the new Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

It was  that the President swore in Arase on Wednesday at the council chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja two months after the Senate confirmed him as chairperson of the PSC.

In a series of tweets via his Twitter handle, Obi said Arase will bring added value to his new position, adding that the former police boss follows a succession of credible leaders of the Commission.

The former Governor of Anambra State expressed optimism that he will perform creditably in his new assignment.

He wrote: “I congratulate former IGP Solomon Arase, on his swearing-in as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission by HE President@MBuhari.

“As an experienced policeman and law enforcement officer, who served in various commands and formations of the Nigerian Police Force before rising to the apex position of Inspector-General of Police, he brings added value to his new position. He follows a succession of credible leaders of the Commission.

“I am certain he will perform creditably in his new assignment. -PO”

Recall that Arase retired in 2016 as the 18th indigenous Inspector-General of Police (IGP) between April 2015 and June 2016.

 

He served in various capacities including as head of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, the foremost intelligence-gathering unit of the Nigerian police.
