Queues have returned to fuel stations in Ilorin, Kwara State, as petrol scarcity continues to spread across the country. The scarcity has led to a surge in prices, with a liter of petrol selling for between N640 to N680 at major marketers’ filling stations and up to N1,000 at independent fuel marketers’ stations.

Most filling stations are currently out of stock, with managers citing a lack of importation and loading of petrol in Lagos. The situation is expected to continue until the local refineries are functional.

The fuel scarcity has also led to increased transport fares in the state capital, with commercial cab operators and Okada and tricycle riders expressing frustration.

This development comes as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has appealed for understanding amid the fuel scarcity, promising to work towards resolving the issue.

The fuel scarcity has led to widespread discontent among Nigerians, with many calling for urgent action to address the situation.
