Photos: Man rescued from committing suicide in Lagos

A man has been rescued while attempting to kill himself in Lagos.

The man who was later identified as Mr Daniel Chibuike Bassi is said to be an aluminium technician.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency,  Bassi had climbed a mast possibly to commit suicide.

He was however convinced to come down from the about 200 feet mast unhurt.
Mr Daniel Chibuike Bassi, who is an aluminium technician.

The technician is said to work in Aluminium Village and lives at Dopemu, Lagos.

He was taken to Gowon Estate Police Station, Lagos.

In interactive discussions with NEMA, LASEMA and Police,  Mr Farinloye  of NEMA said Mr Bassi seemed to be incoherent and could not make a complete statement all along.

He said  NEMA had to appeal to the Police to leave the distressed man to settle down and calm down. Agencies at the scene were NEMA, LASEMA and Police.

“Mr Bassi could not remember his age until he consulted some people.

“He told us that he arrived at the scene at about 0800hours and started climbing the mast at 0830hour.

” He revealed that he never knew the area before but something pushed him to go to the scene
” He was said to have called people around the scene and informed the people that he wanted to do fellowship and started with songs and praising,” NEMA said.

The Mast is  located at Nasfat Centre,  near Go Yee Church, Oyan Ipaja.
