Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Folabi Olumide, has died at 81.
Announcing the death in a statement on Friday, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lanre Fagbohun, described it as an irreplaceable loss.
The late Surgeon served as LASU Vice Chancellor from its inception in 1983 to 1988.
Last year, the LASU Health Centre was renamed the Folabi Olumide Health Centre in his honour.
The statement read, “The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University, Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, SAN, NPOM, on behalf of the University Governing Council, the Senate, University Management, Staff and Students, with deep regret, hereby announces the passing away of its first Vice Chancellor, Professor Folabi Olumide.

“The VC commiserates with his family, the LASU Community, friends and associates on this irreplaceable loss. He prays that the Almighty God gives the Family and all, the soothing comfort to bear this great loss.
