A notorious serial killer in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Gracious David-West, has been sentenced to death by hanging.
David-West, 40, was arrested in September last year after several victims were found strangled to death across Port Harcourt. They had white cloth wrapped around their necks and waists, possibly indicating ritual crimes, according to police.
The killings sparked outrage and prompted women to take to the streets of the city to demand better police protection.
He was sentenced by a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Justice Adolphus Enebele gave the ruling after the suspect was convicted of the murder of eleven young women and attempted murder of Benita Etim in hotels in 2019.
The court held that David-West was responsible for the killing of several ladies in different hotels rooms in Port Harcourt.
The court, however, in its decision discharged and acquitted the second defendant in the case, Nimi ThankGod, who is facing one count charge of misconduct with the corpse of one of the victims of David-West.
