Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed his army to expel Ukrainian forces from Russian territory, as over 120,000 people have fled the border region due to intensifying fighting.

Kyiv launched a surprise offensive into Russia’s Kursk region last week, capturing several settlements and prompting Putin to order a response to “dislodge” the enemy.

The conflict has resulted in at least 12 civilian deaths, 121 injuries, and the evacuation of approximately 121,000 people from the Kursk region.

Ukraine’s operation aims to stretch Russian troops, inflict maximum losses, and destabilize the country.
