Renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has called for the immediate release of Mr Wale Adedayo, the chairman of Ijebu East Local Government in Ogun State.

Adedayo was recently detained by the Department of State Services (DSS). Falana’s request was made in a statement released on Sunday.

The detention of Adedayo by the DSS came after he accused the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, of diverting federal allocation funds that were meant for the state’s local governments over the past two years.

Falana cited similar circumstances where past governors took people to court for libel.

Falana further added, “Having regard to the facts and circumstances of this particular case, I am compelled to request the Ogun State Command of the SSS to release Mr. Adedayo from custody forthwith.”
