An eyewitness, who spoke to Daily Trust in confidence, said that the teacher, Sanusi, reported the matter to the Police in the area, who asked him to return the next day.

“When the teacher and one of his friends returned to the Police station the next day, they were detained for allegedly inflicting a fracture on the hand of the student,” he said.

It was learnt that the family bandaged the hand of the student and lied to the Police that she suffered a simple fracture in the course of the punishment.

A doctor at a hospital uncovered the plot, which led to the dismissal of the allegation.

When contacted, the DPO of Kubwa Police Station confirmed the report.

He said the two parties had withdrawn the case.

Some people familiar with the case, who spoke told Daily Trust said that the teacher had nearly been transferred to the Police headquarters in Abuja from where he would be taken to court.

They said it took the intervention of some community and religious leaders in the area to convince the Police that the teacher was innocent.
