Sit-at-home: Police won’t abandon you, CP tells injured cop

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Aderemi Adeoye, on Wednesday visited two police officers who were injured on Monday during a clash with fighters of the Indigenous People of Biafra enforcing sit-at-home in Anambra State.

 

A joint team of soldiers, policemen, men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and vigilantes, had dislodged IPOB fighters from their hideouts in Anambra on Monday.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, had said in a statement on Tuesday that five soldiers and two policemen were injured by the Improvised Explosives Devices reportedly detonated by the IPOB fighters.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Wednesday that the CP visited the injured corps to boost the morale of personnel.

Ikenga said, “Today, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, Aderemi Adeoye, visited two police operatives, who sustained injuries on 31/7/2023 during a joint security force onslaught against insurgents in a criminal camp at Orsumoghu.

“The visit is to boost the morale of officers while discharging their duties with the assurance that their welfare is of paramount importance to the leadership of the Force.

“He made a cash donation to the officers and prayed for their quick recovery while assuring them that the police would not abandon or leave them behind.

“The CP also assured the good people of Anambra that the command is more determined than ever to flush out the miscreants in the state and make the entire state safer for law-abiding citizens to go about their lawful businesses.”
