The Federal government delegates are currently Negotiating with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU ) in Abuja.
The union disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.
The union is however insisting that its demands must be met before the strike would be suspended.
It said, “The Federal government delegates are currently Negotiating with ASUU on the 8 months lingering strike. ASUU insists their demands must be met before the strike would be suspended. The FG delegates are currently making clarifications on their stands.
ASUU has gone on strike over the non-implementation of agreements signed with the union and the adoption of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System for paying lecturers which the union said did not take into cognisance the uniqueness of the academic environment.
The Union proposed the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) instead which is still undergoing trial by the Federal Government.
