The Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, disclosed this during his visit to some schools in Yaba, Lagos State. He said it is shameful that supervisors are collecting question papers from WAEC and going somewhere to open them before the commencement of exam.

The council had embarked on visits to schools as part of its efforts at curbing examination malpractice and ensuring that the schools comply with COVID-19 safety measures.

He said the supervisors did not know that WAEC had a way of monitoring  them, hence the council’s ability to get them arrested.

He therefore urged the candidates  to shun examination malpractice and rely on their ability and not to go about looking for what they call expo.

In another development, a student in one of the schools in Rivers State has alleged that the principal collected money from candidates to allow them to cheat.

The student  said, “Each of us was asked to pay N1,000 for Mathematics, another N1,000 for English Language and N500 for other subjects in order to cheat.”

The principal has however denied the allegation. He said, “I don’t know what the child is saying. I am going to bring out that child to say it before me that I collected N1,000 from them. I have never done it in my life and I have never thought of it too.”

But, the Commissioner for Education in the state, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku, said all allegations of corrupt practices in the ongoing exams  would be investigated.
