Suspended PDP members to appear before disciplinary committee Wednesday

Suspended members of the Peoples Democratic Party are to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee on Wednesday, Franktalknow can confirm.

This is according to letters sent to suspended PDP members, signed by the PDP National Disciplinary Committee.

Recall that the PDP had on January 20 approved the suspension of the Ekiti State Executive Committee, alongside several party members in the state. The party had also on the same day announced the suspension of Senator Chimaroke Nnamani (Enugu State) and Chief Chris Ogbu (Imo State), citing allegations of anti-party activities.

The invitation letter, titled ‘INVITATION TO APPEAR BEFORE THE NATIONAL DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE OF THE PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, as seen by our correspondent, read, “The National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party is in receipt of the complaint against you from the National Working Committee regarding infraction of the
Party’s constitution as amended in 2017. The complaints against you are as follows:

“1. Anti-party activities, in that you refused and neglected to recognise the presidential candidate of the party, lawfully elected at the party primaries on 28th and 29th May 2022 at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, and/or refused or neglected without just cause to attend the party presidential campaign on Tuesday 17th January 2023 at Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State.

“2. Refusal to follow party directives by refusing to recognise the lawfully elected party officials at the National level. All the above are contrary to the provisions of section 58(1)(a) (b)(c)(f) and (h) of the party’s constitution.”

The letter further noted that suspended party members who wish to defend themselves are to submit written representations to the PDP National Disciplinary Committee within three days of receiving the invitation letter.

Suspended party members are also expected to appear before the National Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday afternoon at the Legacy House, Shehu Shagari Way, Abuja.
