Two baby factory operators nabbed in Ogun

Two women, Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu have been arrested by the police in Ogun State for allegedly operating a baby factory.

It was gathered that the duo were apprehended on August 27, following information received by the police at Agbado divisional headquarters.

The Police had been informed that Christiana Iyama of 4, Ibrahim Famuyiwa street, Agbado Ogun State, was running a baby factory in her apartment, where she harboured young girls to be impregnated by hired men.

After delivery, “she will collect the baby and sell to her waiting buyers,” the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said on Monday.

Upon the information, the DPO of the Agbado division, SP Awoniyi Adekunle, was said to have mobilized his detectives to the area, where the said Iyama and Margaret Ogwu were nabbed.

Preliminary investigation, according to Oyeyemi, revealed that Margaret Ogwu was one of the girls harboured by Christiana D’ivoire, who he said had employed the service of a man to impregnate.

Oyeyemi explained that Ogwu’s baby was sold after delivery at the rate of N400,000 to one of her customers.

“She also confessed to the police that, she has sold up to three children from different women to her different customers,” Oyeyemi stated.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State CIID in Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
