Two die as IPOB sit-at-home order turns bloody in Nnewi

The sit-at-home order given by the Indigenous People of Biafra has reportedly turned bloody in Nnewi following the death of two persons in a clash between the Army and suspected members of IPOB.

The two people, a leader of Eastern Security Network and a commercial motorcyclist, were said to have been shot dead by soldiers.

According to reports the incident happened at the Izuchukwu Junction area at Roundabout axis in Nnewi.

It was gathered that the bloody confrontation started at about 7.00 am when some IPOB members came out to enforce the sit-at-order by blockading major roads in the Nnewi.

Some unidentified soldiers then came in to clear the items used to block the roads, which led to the altercation between them and the IPOB members.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that after the killing an irate mob went smashing parked vehicles on the road.

It was however gathered that a combined team of security operatives stormed the area to disperse the protesters.

The Anambra Police Command is yet to react to the incident.
