The Pro-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (Rtd), has commended the National Youth Service Corps for exposing 101 fake graduates who were fraudulently mobilised from the institution.
In a phone interview, DIG Ekpoudom praised the NYSC for taking a major step towards ensuring the integrity of the national programme and preventing unqualified individuals from participating. He pledged to take action against the staff involved in mobilising these fake graduates from UNICAL.
“NYSC has done very well in this regard. We are trying to identify the staff involved to address the issue appropriately. The individuals are not students; they forged documents to secure employment. This is the first step. The next step is to uncover those behind this criminal activity,” he said.
The NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, had listed 101 individuals who were fraudulently mobilised from UNICAL between the 2021 and 2023 service years.
The institution is conducting a thorough investigation to identify the staff responsible and vowed to sanction the offenders accordingly.
