The crisis rocking the University of Lagos over the removal of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe by the Wale Babalakin-led council is yet to abate despite the intervention of the Visitor to the University, President Muhammadu Buhari in the crisis.

President Buhari in his capacity as the visitor to the university had on Friday asked both the pro-chancellor of the university and chairman of council, as well as Prof Ogundipe to recuse themselves even as he set up a visitation panel to the university to investigate the crisis and report back to government in two weeks.

The President also asked the Senate of the university to appoint an Acting vice chancellor, thus sacking Prof. Soyombo, the acting VC appointed by the council.

Subsequently, the senate of the university who are usually professors only, on Sunday issued a notice to members to convene a meeting on Monday, August 24, with a view to appointing an acting VC.

The council also asked the members to await proper notice of the meeting after the Federal Government must have clarified some issues germane to the meeting,

“Members should await proper Notice of Meeting after the Federal Government of Nigeria has clarified some issues germane to the meeting. Thank you.”
