UNILAG Denies Online Reports of Attack by Hoodlums

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has denied reports circulating online that the institution was attacked by hoodlums on Monday, January 15, 2024.

 

The university management clarified that the incident that occurred on that day was related to crowd control during the distribution of academic gowns to graduating students of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) ahead of their convocation ceremony on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

The statement was signed by the Head of the Communication Unit, and any further inquiries can be directed to communicationunit@unilag.edu.ng on behalf of the University of Lagos Management

According to the university, some gowns that had not yet been issued were taken, and the vehicle used for distributing the gowns was damaged.

 

The university is currently investigating the incident to determine its cause, identify those responsible, assess the extent of the damage, and prevent a similar occurrence in the future.
