UNILAG, UNIBEN to conduct post UTME amidst ASUU strike

In spite of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the backlog of admission of new students, the University of Lagos and the University of Benin have announced plans to conduct post UTME screening and all forms of admission for the 2022/2023 session.

The University of Lagos on Wednesday said that online registration for the Undergraduate Admission Screening Exercise into ALL COURSES/PROGRAMMES for the 2022/2023 Academic Year will commence from Monday, October 17 to Friday, November 4, 2022.

Candidates who made the University their first choice in the 2022 UTME and scored 200 and above are eligible for screening according to the university.

In addition, the university said candidates must possess five (5) credit passes at one sitting in relevant O’level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, adding that candidates, who will not be sixteen (16) years of age by 31st October 2022 are not eligible and need not apply.

“Former students of the University whose admission were withdrawn on the basis of poor academic performance or absence status could re-apply on condition that the new admission shall be for a new programme/course different from the former programme/course. Any student expelled from the University cannot be offered fresh admission,” the university said in a statement by its registrar Azeez Oladejo.

Similarly, in a notice by its Registrar, Ademola Bobola on Wednesday in Benin, the University said the exercise would hold between Nov. 14 and 25.

Bobola said the screening would be conducted in designated centres at the Ugbowo main campus of the institution, using the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
 “Only candidates who applied through JAMB for the 2022/2023 UTME and Direct Entry admission and chose the University of Benin as First Choice and scoring 200 and above for UTME candidates are eligible for this screening exercise,” the registrar said.
The registrar referred admission seekers to the institution to the university’s official website.
