The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) and the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have maintained their positions as the most preferred universities among Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates over the past four years, from 2020 to 2023.
According to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), UNILORIN has consistently been the top choice, with 103,582 applications in 2020, 78,466 in 2021, and 73,749 in 2023. UNILAG has closely followed, coming in second with 59,190 applications in 2021 and 61,606 in 2022 and 2023.
The top 10 universities chosen by candidates during the 2023 UTME are:
