The University of Nigeria, Nsukka has on Thursday announced the cancellation of the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (post-UTME) Screening Excercise for the 2023/2024 session.
The announcement was made via a memo made available to FTN on Thursday. The memo was signed by University Registrar Dr. Ngozi Nnebedum.
Post-UTME is an exam written by prospective students who made it up to the required grades in JAMB to gain admission into tertiary institutions. It is organized by universities as a screening exercise to admit students into the schools.
However, for the 2023/2024 session, prospective candidates and the general public have been informed that the exam, which was slated for October 3-18, 2023, will no longer be held.
The memo read, “This is to inform prospective candidates and the general public that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka 2023/2024 Post-UTME Screening Exercise earlier slated to start from Tuesday, October 03, 2023, through Friday, October 18, 2023, will no longer hold.”

According to the memo, the waiving of the screening test is due to “prevailing uncertainties and logistical implications” for travelling students.
“The reconsideration by the Management to waive the Post-UTME Screening Test for
the 2023/2024 Academic Session was occasioned by the prevailing uncertainties and
logistical implications of travelling down from various parts of the country at this
challenging time.”
UNN then revealed that the candidates for the 2023/2024 session will instead be assessed by the verified Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME, O’Level and Direct Entry results.
“Any candidate who fails to upload the verified O’ Level results at JAMB CAPS in record time shall not be considered for admission. Other details on the registration for the Screening on O’ Level and Direct Entry results at the UNN portal as already published on our Website remain as scheduled,” the memo concludes.
